The MPS can also be used as an intercom by pressing the black maintenance call button, this then opens two-way communication with all other stations including the Memcom. The maintenance call button would be used by the lift engineer in the Machine Room, during a power cut for example, when informing the passengers that the lift cabin was about to be lowered manually to the next landing.

Using the maintenance call button on the Memcom or any Multi-Point Station (MPS) it is possible to open a 4-way (max) conversation, this can be helpful during installation making for a safe working environment. Each internal call lasts 180 seconds, an additional 90 secs is added when the call button is pressed, extending the call. There is a status beep every 30 secs when the internal call is open and a warning beep to alert users to extend the call.
